Night Huntress by Yasmine Galenorn

Delilah D'Artigo is one of the D'Artigo sisters, three otherworldly women who are half Fae and half human. Menolly, the oldest, is a Moon Witch and married to a Dragon and a Youkai, and Camille, the youngest, is a vampire as well as half-fae. Camille, the middle sister, is a werecat and living Death maiden of the Autumn Lord, marked with a black sickle on her brow. She is also having a relationship with Chase, a Full Blooded Human Detective.

In the middle of handling things for the OIA, the Otherworld Intelligence Agency, Delilah is being distracted by her personal life. First, Chase mutters another woman's name in his sleep, and then, after Menolly is wounded in an attack on a group of Underworld insects called Venidemons, Delilah walks in on him having sex with another Full Blood Human woman, and who doesn't seem to care that Chase and Delilah have some kind of relationship.

Delilah is furious at the betrayal, but not so much that he wanted to have sex with someone else. What's got her upset is that he didn't tell her that he wanted someone else, and after he made such a fuss over her having sex with another Were. She'd told him right away, but now that he would consider doing something like that with another woman... She tells him she needs time to think and not to contact her for at least two weeks.

Chase being Chase, of course he tries calling her several times. But Delilah ducks his calls, because more important things are happening in her life. Well, more important than her anger and broken heart, anyway. Roz, their bound demon contact, has information about another seal, one of the 12 they have been asked to find. The last seal they found was taken by the Demon Shadow Wing, and they want to make sure he doesn't get his hands on this one.

But even as they retrieve the seal and return it to the Otherworld, one of Shadow Wing's Demon Generals, Karvanak, is aiming to make them turn it over to him... and he's snatched Chase to use as a pawn to get them to turn it over. To prove he has Chase, he gives them one of Chase's fingers, along with the ring he normally wears on that finger.

But killing Karvanak will take more than just the D'Artigo sisters alone, and maybe even more than their allies Smoky, Morio, Roz and the others. For this one, Delilah may need the help of the Autumn Lord, and he has his own plans for her... like bearing his child. But can Delilah, who is already sworn to his service, turn him down? And more to the point, does she really want to? First, though, she'll have to rescue Chase and destroy Karvanak... if she can.

I love the D'Artigo sisters series. Each book is about one of the sisters and shows them steadily growing more powerful as they grow up and learn to accept and use new sources of power. The series starts out with a book about Menolly, then moves to Delilah, to Camille, and back to Menolly, then Delilah, and so on. The next book "Demon Mistress" will be about Menolly once again, but despite each book being about a different sister, the sisters beside the main character do grow a bit with each new book.

I find the series fascinating, as we slowly get to see more of the Otherworld, Underworld, and the Sub Realms. Each sister brings a slightly different point of view to the party, and each speaks to a different area of experience. Most of the story is about love and romance, and neither sister lacks for romantic and sexual partners. And with each new character introduced, we get to see more of the overall picture of the other worlds.

I highly recommend this ongoing series for the excellent writing, and the worldbuilding that accompanies each book. And also for the sisters themselves, each half-fae and part of the same family, but with such different outlooks on the same problem. I am glad that there are more to come in the series, and I can't wait for more books to come out.
