I love cats, and so do a lot of my friends. And so do a lot of writers and literary-type people. How else can you explain all that has been written for and about our lovely, four-footed meowing friends? From kittens to cats, all facets of cats are explored in this volume, including poetry, stories, humor and with recipies for all sorts of cat treats you can make at home, Games you and your cat or cats can play together, and advice for how to train your cat using clicker training, from basic to advanced.
Enlivening this book are many pictures of cats, mostly sentimental paintings of the Victorian era, of cats being cats or interacting with a young boy or girl. But others are more satiric, and show cats very much like people, dressing in clothes and promenading out on the town. Interspersed with the pictures are quotes from writers such as Mark Twain, Louis Wain and old English Proverbs.
The book is filled with stories about cats: "The Cat Who Walked by Himself" by Rudyard Kipling, "The Boy Who Drew Cats", "A Cat Made of Magic", "The Story of Dick Whittington and His Cat", "The Samurai's Dilemma", "The Cat Who Came for Christmas" by Cleveland Amory, "Mrs. Bond's Cats" by James Herriot, and that's only just the beginning!
Poems about cats, Games for you to play with your cat, advice on owning a cat, and playtoys to make for your cat... any cat-owner is going to love this book, and literary pet owners especially.
This book is in hard-cover, and while you may have seen some (or most) of this material before, here it is gathered all in one place, and with adorable and funny cat pictures, some of which will surely become your favorites.
I won't say this book is a must-have, but cat owners will surely get a lot of enjoyment out of it, and as cats and reading go together like cats and cream, perhaps you can snuggle up with a favorite feline friend before reading this.
