The Hardy Boys are brothers who work for A.T.A.C., or American Teens Against Crime. Joe is the Blonde, Happy-Go-Lucky one and his brother Frank is the black-haired, more serious and studious one.
The two have infiltrated a MMORPG in search of a hacker who attacks and griefs players (i.e. kills off their characters and causes them trouble), but this one takes it one better by stealing their computer information and destroying their hard drives as she does so. Joe and Frank go online to draw her out and track down where she is located.
Afterwards, it's getting near to their Dad, Fenton's birthday, and A.T.A.C. has planned a huge party for him. Joe and Frank are in on the surprise, but the Noir sisters have used the distraction of the party to break in and cause havoc, Can Joe and Frank break up the Noir sisters, defeat their hired thugs, and save their Dad's birthday party from ruin?
This is a great updating of the original Hardy Boys stories. Frank and Joe are computer-savvy and virtually fearless, and the Noir twins are their opposites in both sexes and temperments. They are sort of the Anti-Hardys. But there are some annoyances. First, all the characters have the same nose, and many of the faces are hardly distinguishable except by hair and eye color and hair style.
The other is that the books are rather small, and even though they are in color, $8 is a fairly high price to pay for such a thin volume. If you can get these books through your local library, do it and don't try to collect them yourself. Not bad on the story, but the art needs work to make the characters look less alike, especially the unrelated ones.
